i3c_interrupt_b2b_master

i3c_interrupt_b2b_master#

Overview#

The example shows how to use i3c driver as master to do board to board data communication. The master will call functional APIs to construct the data transfer flow instead of using transactional API, this aims to reduce code size and acheive higher performance on low frequency MCUs.

In this example, one i3c instance as master and another i3c instance on the other board as slave. The master will firstly enter dynamic address cycle to assign address to the connected slave, after success, will use I3C SDR mode to transfer data, then receive data from the connected I3C slave and check the data consistency.

Supported Boards#

LPCXpresso860MAX
Hardware requirements
  • Micro USB cable

  • LPCXpresso860max board

  • Personal Computer

Board settings

I3C one board:

  • Transfer data from MASTER_BOARD to SLAVE_BOARD of I3C interface, I3C0 pins of MASTER_BOARD are connected with I3C0 pins of SLAVE_BOARD

MASTER_BOARD CONNECTS TO SLAVE_BOARD
Pin Name Board Location Pin Name Board Location
P0_26 J1-2 P0_26 J1-2
P1_14 J1-4 P1_14 J1-4
GND J1-14 GND J1-14
Prepare the Demo
  1. Connect a micro USB cable between the PC host and the CMSIS DAP USB port (J4) on the board

  2. Open a serial terminal with the following settings:

    • 9600 baud rate

    • 8 data bits

    • No parity

    • One stop bit

    • No flow control

  3. Download the program to the target board.

  4. Press reset button to begin running the demo.

Running the demo

The following message shows in the terminal if the example runs successfully.

I3C board2board Interrupt example -- Master.

I3C master do dynamic address assignment to the I3C slaves on bus.

I3C master dynamic address assignment done.

Start to do I3C master transfer in I3C SDR mode.

I3C master wait for slave IBI event to notify the slave transmit size.

I3C master received slave IBI event, data size 0, value 0x20.

I3C master transfer successful in I3C SDR mode .
